Self-Rescue Is Not For Suicide™ Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on building suicide intervention capacity in rural and high-risk workforces and communities — before crisis turns fatal.

Save lives.
We save lives by bringing the tools, training, and experience necessary to empower individuals and communities to see, speak, and step in for each other.

We envision communities and workforces
where people may face crisis —
but never face it alone.

Family: Family is more than bloodline. Family is community — friends, crews, shifts, teams, tribes, and neighbors who keep each other going. We are all family.
Courage: Courage isn’t the absence of fear. Courage is carrying fear and moving forward anyway — for ourselves and for our families.
Duty: Courage and family mean nothing without duty. Duty is our responsibility to look out for each other, step in when someone needs help, and act when action matters most.
We are Each Others Keepers.™
Most suicide crises unfold in the presence of coworkers, friends, or family — not clinicians.
We train people who are already there to recognize warning signs, slow escalation, and intervene safely until additional help can be reached.
Rural and industrial communities often face higher suicide risk, longer response times, and fewer local resources.
Our current focus is regional — serving communities where distance, isolation, and high-risk work environments make early intervention critical.
Suicide intervention is not a one-to-one outcome.
Each trained individual increases safety coverage for an estimated seven others through shared shifts, crews, families, and peer networks — multiplying impact beyond the individual.
We do not provide emergency or real-time crisis response.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call or text 988 or your local emergency number.
Suicide intervention training is not therapy or clinical care.
Our role is to help people recognize risk, respond appropriately, and connect individuals to professional resources when needed.
Suicide cannot always be prevented.
What can be strengthened is the ability of people to notice warning signs sooner, delay irreversible decisions, and support safer outcomes during moments of crisis.
The foundation operates with formal governance, financial oversight, and conflict-of-interest policies to ensure accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship without any discrimination to race creed, color, nationality, religion or deeply held beliefs.
